One of our main speakers is Ted van den Ingh, a member of the WSAVA Liver Standardisation Group, who will give a detailed overview on the subject.

The module will be held in conjunction with the AGM and details of the programme can be obtained here.

Click here for a registration form. The option of attending only one day only is now available. As you will see from the registration form, if you are unable to attend both days of the module, the BSVP are able to offer a day delegate rate.

If you would like to attend for one day only, please remember to indicate which day you are planning to attend so that the necessary arrangements can be made for you.

To avoid incurring the late booking fee, your completed form and payment need to be received by the BSVP secretariat no later than 1st September 2010.

Call for case submissions for this meeting:

As part of the BSVP Educational Module 8 and annual meeting, we are inviting submission of interesting cases to form part of a case discussion session - see attached form.

This discussion will be in line with the themes of module 8 and should involve an aspect of hepatic or pancreatic pathology. Any species group is acceptable and the intended structure is a 10 minute Power Point presentation followed by a 5 minute discussion.

The submission deadline is the 1st September 2010 and the completed submission form should be e-mailed to a.schock@vla.defra.gsi.gov.uk.  We will select 4 - 6 case presentations felt to be most pertinent to the day’s talks.

We are hoping to be able to upload a brief signalment and history for each case to the BSVP web site prior to the meeting with the author’s agreement. A printout of the Power Point presentation will be added to the proceedings.

BSVP Newsgroup

In response to requests from our members, we have decided to establish a newsgroup for the exclusive use of BSVP members. This is to facilitate discussion of any aspect of veterinary pathology, including the discussion of case material with a wider audience.

We also hope that it will provide a forum in which we can hear your views on the issues concerning the Society’s future.

Click the link in the menu or hit this to find out more.

We look forward to welcoming you to the BSVP newsgroup.

elections for Council

The AGM will be held on Saturday 16th October 2010.

After his long and successful tenancy as Honorary Secretary, Mark Stidworthy will be stepping down. Anybody who is interested in volunteering for this position is invited to contact him informally for further information.

communication

We are also interested to increase the communication within the society and the collaboration between BSVP members as well as the council and the members.

We hope that the newly established newsgroup will further this aim (see above).

If you would like to join please contact the BSVP secretariat.

slide meeting, Bury St Edmunds

Nick Woodger of VLA Bury St Edmunds currently organises an informal quarterly slide meeting at the VLA in Bury. Although the meeting is primarily for VLA pathologists, it is also open to other pathologists.

The meeting works on the basis of “turn up and show your case(s)” and if there were a large number of participants (i.e. more than 10 people), a Coolscope would be used.

Nick has issued a general invitation for any BSVP members in the area who wish to attend.

If you wish to be kept informed of future meetings please contact Nick or the BSVP Secretariat.

BSVP Secretariat

The Secretariat takes on many of the day-to-day administrative tasks of the BSVP. We have a PO Box (PO Box 6357, Kyleakin, Isle of Skye IV41 8WA, UK) and your administrative queries will now go straight through to the Secretariat.

careers in veterinary pathology

There is now a web site containing information on careers in veterinary pathology. It is aimed at anyone (undergraduate, graduate or student) who is interested in our discipline and you can access it by clicking here.

If you know of students or practitioners who are interested in following a career in veterinary pathology, this is a good place for them to start, so please point them in the right direction.

It is also now the location for any job advertisements and its remit will expand over the coming months.
