modular training programme

We are in the process of putting together a series of short courses that will satisfy many of the needs of veterinary pathologists in training and provide continuing professional development for those wishing to refresh their basic knowledge.

objectives

The intention of the modules will be to provide post-graduate training in veterinary pathology for those pursuing a career in this discipline. The principle is to educate a veterinary pathologist, rather than preparing for a specific professional qualification.

There is no affiliation to a particular exam system or curriculum although the content will provide much that is needed for the professional exams that many trainees consider taking.

The plan is to keep the costs to a minimum.

The first Module took place on 8th and 9th June 2007 at Edinburgh Vet School and the second Module in Glasgow is planned for 21st and 22nd September 2007.

two-day courses

The two-day courses will be pretty intensive, offering between 10 and 14 hours of tuition.

We feel that employers should be as committed to the process of training as the trainees and that the courses, initially, will be held on Fridays and Saturdays.

The content of the modules are under the supervision of the Education Committee, and I am confident that courses of high quality will be delivered.

The courses also represent very useful CPD 'refreshers' for the more experienced or to bring others 'up to speed' on areas they do not regularly encounter.
