Organised in conjunction with the BSVP and the University of Bristol, the theme of the meeting in June is oncology – Immunohistochemical proliferation markers in Veterinary Diagnostic Pathology.  Sean Haugland from Bridge Pathology will moderate an interactive educational event discussing the use of immunohistochemical proliferation markers in veterinary diagnostic pathology, with particular reference to Mast cell tumours. Their experience regarding the use, interpretation and potential pitfalls of the Ki67 index for mast cell tumour prognosis will be discussed. Particular emphasis will be placed on the interpretation of the Ki67 index value in tumours from young dogs. A brief discussion of MCM proteins as markers of cellular proliferation will also be included. Members are very welcome to bring cases for discussion time permitting. The seminar will be relevant to trainees and also to more experienced pathologists wishing to update their knowledge.
