Trainee bursaries – BSVP Autumn Meeting – Pathology of Exotic Animals

5th-6th October 2024 at the Roslin Institute – University of Edinburgh

To support trainee professional development, the BSVP is pleased to offer 5 trainees the opportunity to present a review of an interesting topic or a summary of their research project at our upcoming Autumn Meeting.

Successful applicants will receive free registration to the meeting, £300 towards travel and accommodation costs, and free BSVP membership for the 2024 year.

To apply, applicants should submit a written abstract (max 800 words). Research or cases from all species and aetiologies are welcome, but those focused on exotic animals are particularly encouraged.

The requirements for the trainee presentations are as follows:

1. The candidates can be of any nationality and work in any country

2. The candidates should be preparing for a pathology board examination (as signed off by their sponsor)

3. Successful candidates are expected to present their work in person at the meeting in the format of a scientific poster to be discussed with colleagues, with the following specifications:

  • Size: A0 (841 mm x 1189 / 33.1 inches x 46.8 inches)
  • both horizontal (landscape) or vertical (portrait) orientation can be used
  • Attachment: tacks/pins (rod and cord for hanging is not necessary)

4. The case presentation must be ethically acceptable

5. Previous BSVP award winners from the last 2 years can apply, however applications from non-previous winners will take precedence in the judging

6. Candidates do not need to be current BSVP members

7. Non-successful applicants will be allowed to register to the event with the early bird rate up until the day of the event

8. Successful applicants agree to have their abstract as well as photos (to be taken on the day) to be published on BSVP website and social media for promotional purposes

All abstracts and sponsor supporting letters must be received by email by Friday 30th August 2024. Successful applicants will be notified by 13th September 2024.
