Job Title: Anatomic Pathologist – Maternity Cover

Date Created: June 2021

Reports To: Head of Pathology

Job Location: Newmarket / Cambridge

Develop your career with DWR and be part of something special!

A board-certified Anatomic Pathologist (ECVP/ACVP Diplomate or FRCPath) is sought to join our diagnostic team of seven Pathologists. We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Pathologist with excellent communication skills and experience in diagnostic histopathology. The successful candidate will be required to work on-site at DWR, near Newmarket, UK.

The laboratory serves the busy veterinary hospital at DWR, receives external samples from throughout the UK and has a strong reputation for quality and service. The laboratory has expanded in recent times and is a progressive dynamic working environment. The caseload consists largely of canine and feline samples and includes a high proportion of samples from referral hospitals including various specialties (e.g. oncology, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, neurology and dermatology).

Responsibilities include preparation of high-quality reports on histopathological findings, integrating clinical data and interpretation of adjunctive testing such as immunohistochemistry, liaising with clinical colleagues and advising the histology technical staff. The desire to work collaboratively within both the pathology team and the wider hospital is essential with potential opportunities to participate in multidisciplinary rounds and clinical research projects.

Please note that this post is for 4 days per week for a fixed period of 6-12 months to cover maternity leave. However, it may be possible that a permanent position becomes available during this time.

As you would expect from the UK’s largest private veterinary referral hospital, we offer an inspiring and friendly working environment together with career development opportunities and an attractive benefits package.

If you share our passion for delivering excellence, trust and care then we would love to hear from you.
