The University of Surrey School of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a Teaching Fellow in Veterinary Clinical Pathology. The successful candidate will join our enthusiastic, dedicated, and friendly team of international anatomic pathologists and residents, based in our £11m purpose-built, state-of-the-art Veterinary Pathology Centre in Guildford, Surrey.
Applicants must be a Member or Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), or must possess a degree that is registrable with the RCVS, and must also be board-certified in veterinary clinical pathology (ACVP, ECVCP, or RCPath).
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and will work well in a team, functioning predominantly in the areas of teaching and diagnostic service.
Student teaching responsibilities include active participation in teaching clinical pathology in the veterinary medical curriculum, which is committed to training practice-ready veterinarians. Specific teaching duties will focus on didactic teaching of clinical pathology in the curriculum, as well as on small group teaching for final-year students on diagnostic duty during their clinical rotation in pathology. The role will also encompass provision of some clinical pathology training for anatomic
pathology residents.
The successful candidate will also work closely with the Head of Pathology to begin developing and leading a clinical pathology service within the Veterinary Pathology Centre.
The current team of anatomic pathologists and residents is engaged in the national and international pathology community through volunteer committee service and conference presentations. Opportunities for creative scholarly activity can be tailored to the successful candidate’s interests and may include collaborative or independent research. Many opportunities for collaborative research exist in various subspecialty areas and in biomedical sciences, courtesy of strong links with researchers across the University of Surrey, as well as through our many collaborative partnerships with clinical researchers in specialty clinics, zoological societies, scientific institutes, and government agencies. Continued Professional Development is both encouraged and supported.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated pathologist to play a leading role in helping to shape the University’s veterinary education programmes and develop a diagnostic clinical pathology service in the Veterinary Pathology Centre.
