Veterinary anatomic pathologists – 2 positions open
We are looking for 2 enthusiastic, personable and talented, veterinary anatomic pathologists based in the UK or willing to move to the UK.
VPG Histology, part of Synlab’s Veterinary Pathology Group, is a veterinary diagnostic histopathology and immunohistochemistry laboratory located in Bristol, UK. We are dedicated to the provision of the very highest quality diagnostic surgical pathology services to the veterinary community.
You will work in a highly collegial and friendly team alongside an international group of anatomic pathologists and a tremendously supportive technical and administrative team.
Your caseload will generally be composed of companion animal species with a low proportion of Exotic and Equine cases. A large proportion of our clients are in referral veterinary practice or specialists, which is consistent with the quality of our reporting and the exacting standards that we expect of all our pathologists and laboratory staff. A significant proportion of our case load is received from Europe, particularly Germany, with expansion imminent across Northern Europe. We also provide the diagnostic anatomic pathology services for two of the UK veterinary schools.
We work closely with our dynamic clinical pathology colleagues throughout Synlab VPG, and enjoy regular case discussions. Many of our pathologists also act as external examiners and visiting lecturers at UK veterinary schools. One of our pathologists is an examiner for the ECVP and two for the Royal College of Pathologists.
We have excellent links with the veterinary schools and other research institutes throughout the UK and are currently participating in a number of different research projects. We also supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects for universities throughout the UK and are involved in training of residents from other specialties. Where case load allows a proportion of your time may be used for research or business development activities.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. CPD is encouraged and supported, with MRCVS and specialty registration funded. Applicants must be ACVP/ ECVP board certified or eligible and/or RCPath board certified. The ability to report in German would be highly appreciated.
Due to the Covid pandemic and space restrictions in our lab building, pathologists are mostly working off–site at the moment with a flexible on–site rota in place. We will continue to offer flexibility to work on and offsite in the future.
Full–time remote working within the UK will be considered, although a desire to intermittently work on–site with our team in Bristol would be favoured.
